FAQ
1. Does remedial massage hurt?
Remedial massage should feel effective, not overwhelming. Some areas may feel more intense depending on what we’re working on, but pressure is always adjusted to your comfort.
The goal is to work with your body, not against it. Many people are surprised that treatment can be both targeted and deeply relaxing at the same time.
2. Can remedial massage help with my condition?
Remedial massage can support a wide range of concerns across the body. This includes common issues such as neck and shoulder tension, low back pain, and headaches.
I also regularly see more specific conditions such as frozen shoulder, bursitis, rotator cuff irritation, as well as elbow and wrist issues like tennis elbow and carpal tunnel symptoms. Many clients come in with longer-standing or more complex presentations, including arthritis, sciatica-style nerve irritation, herniated discs, fibromyalgia, autoimmune conditions, and post-surgical recovery such as hip or knee replacements.
Treatment focuses on improving movement, reducing pain, and supporting your body’s ability to adapt and recover. If you’re unsure, you’re welcome to reach out and I can guide you.
3. How many remedial massage sessions will I need in O'Connor?
This depends on your body, your goals, and how long the issue has been present. Some people feel noticeable change within one session, while others benefit from a short series of treatments to create longer lasting results.
I’ll always guide you honestly based on what I find, without locking you into a fixed plan
4. What should I expect for my first remedial massage appointment in O’Connor?
Your first session starts with a thorough consultation and assessment to understand your symptoms, health history, injuries, and goals.
We’ll clarify what you want most from the session and what’s likely driving the issue. Then we move into hands on treatment tailored to your body and comfort on the day.
Before you leave, I’ll share simple movement or self care suggestions and practical next steps such as rebooking guidance if relevant.
5. Do you offer dry needling in O’Connor?
Yes, dry needling is available as part of remedial massage treatment in O’Connor. It’s a precise technique using fine needles to release tight or overactive muscles and help reduce pain sensitivity.
Not every session has to include dry needling. It’s always optional and only used when it’s appropriate for your body and your goals
6. Is dry needling safe?
Yes, dry needling is a safe and regulated technique when performed by a qualified practitioner. It uses very fine, sterile needles to release tight or overactive muscles and reduce pain sensitivity.
It is always optional and only used when it’s appropriate for your body and your goals.
7. How long should I book for a remedial massage?
If you are a new client, I recommend booking 60 minutes so we have enough time for a full consultation, assessment, and quality treatment without rushing.
30-minute sessions are best for returning clients who want focused work on one main area. If you have multiple areas of concern or want more time to fully relax, 90 minutes is ideal.
To book 90 minutes, please message or call and I’ll help you find a time.
8. Do you offer private health rebates in O'Connor?
Yes. I’m registered with major Australian health funds for remedial massage, so you can usually claim depending on your level of cover.
At the end of your session, you’ll pay the full fee and receive an invoice with my provider number. You can then submit the claim through your health fund app or online portal.

At the moment, on-the-spot claiming (HICAPS) is not available.
9. Can remedial massage help with low back pain?
Yes, remedial massage can be very effective for low back pain. Treatment focuses on identifying and addressing the underlying cause, which may involve muscle tension, joint restriction, muscle imbalance or movement patterns elsewhere in the body.
Each session is tailored to reduce pain, improve movement, and create longer lasting change.
10. Can remedial massage help with neck and shoulder pain?
Yes, neck and shoulder tension are some of the most common issues I see. Treatment may include targeted work through the neck, shoulders, rotator cuffs, pectoral muscles, upper back, and surrounding areas that contribute to the tension.
The focus is on relieving discomfort while also improving your posture and how your body moves and functions, so the issue is less likely to keep returning.

You can find out more about how I work with neck and shoulder tension in the Conditions page.
11. Do you work with chronic pain or injuries?
Yes, this is a core part of what I do. I regularly work with chronic pain, long standing tension patterns, postural strain, and recurring injuries.
My background includes working alongside physiotherapists and chiropractors, so sessions are guided by clinical reasoning and ongoing reassessment, with the aim of reducing pain, restoring function, and supporting long-term change in a way your body can sustain.
12. What are the common conditions you treat for remedial massage in O'Connor?
I work with a wide range of concerns affecting different areas of the body. The most common include neck and shoulder tension, low back pain, headaches, hip discomfort, and jaw tension.
I also regularly see more specific issues such as frozen shoulder, bursitis, rotator cuff irritation, as well as elbow and wrist conditions like tennis elbow and carpal tunnel symptoms.
Many clients come in with longer-standing or more complex presentations, including arthritis, sciatica-style nerve irritation, herniated discs, fibromyalgia, CRPS, autoimmune conditions, and post-surgical recovery such as hip or knee replacements.

13. Will my treatment be deep tissue or relaxing?
Every session is tailored, so we can blend relaxation and remedial work in a way that suits your body and your goals.
You can also change the direction at any point during the treatment. Some people need more relaxation first before targeted work, and I’ll guide that balance so the treatment feels both effective and supportive.
